Nagarjun is nearest hill site of Kathmandu Valley covered by thick forest with historical as well as natural setting. Situated north-west of Kathmandu it’s a part of Shivapuri National Park. You can start your hike from the Gate of Nagarjuna near Balaju.
This day trip begins with a scenic drive from your Hotel in Kathmandu to the Balaju Bypass and then to National Park gate where you will check in for permits.
Upon arrival at National Park Gate, you will start hiking all the way to the top, passing through the forested area for about 2 and half hours. You will make few stops on the way up enjoying stunning view of Kathmandu valley, capturing Himalayan scenery in your mind and Camera. Upon reaching the top, you will experience panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu Valley from View tower. Some of the mountain ranges like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa and a few other mountains. There is also a Buddhist Temple (religious building) at the top. This is one the less crowded and quite view point in Kathmandu Valley.
On the way back you will explore Laxmi Cave. You will walk through 10-15 meter inside the cave to Buddha statue if you would like. This cave have many unexplored monuments and images of Lord Buddha. You can experience this ancient cave where Buddhist monk used to meditate. This will be a adventurous short walk for you.
You will trace the same route descending down and then dropped-off at your hotel.
